Governments use direct mail for campaign success

Sharon Wolcott was recently awarded the Toughest Direct Mail Piece honor from Campaigns and Elections, in her mayoral election victory in Surprise, Arizona.

Wolcott's direct mail campaign was presented to local voters, urging them to vote out the incumbent, Lyn Truitt. The direct mail piece was designed to look like a small newspaper, and had articles discussing her stance on the issues and how the incumbent candidate let the locals down. The four-piece direct mailer not only engaged consumers with eye-catching graphics, but also persuaded many to vote Wolcott into office, AZ Central reported.

Helping marketers reach consumers as well as government officials, BB Direct has launched its city government database for customers. Marketers can access these detailed mailing lists online, segment them to fit their campaign needs and design mail pieces around the target audience. Marketers will have access to contact names, addresses, institution addresses and other data to be applied to a direct mail campaign.
