Every year millions of people tune in to watch the Super Bowl, and each year numerous companies vie for a coveted advertising spot during the game. Understanding their commercial is guaranteed to reach millions of viewers at one time, companies will pay top dollar for an advertising spot. Therefore, the commercials during the Super Bowl have become famous for their creativity and humor, which can increase revenue, brand awareness and response rates.

But TV advertisements are not the only form of advertising launched specifically for the Super Bowl. Inside Self Storage reported social media was expected to be a popular channel through which marketers reached out to consumers. Companies offered promotions and discounts via Twitter, Facebook and other channels to increase traffic to their website. Social media, in conjunction with direct mail and print marketing, is a common tool for companies looking to build brand awareness and engage directly with consumers.

Certain businesses tend to focus on Super Bowl-themed specials as their products are well-suited for the event. For example, Rocket Pizza in Pompano Beach, Florida, always launches a Super Bowl special, and this year was no exception. The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported the business made special preparations to accommodate the anticipated increase in orders for the game, including making extra pizza dough and stocking up on ingredients. The company sent out direct mail pieces and other advertisements to get the community excited about the big game and Rocket's pizza.
