The Office Depot Small Business Index showed small businesses need a knowledgeable and reliable resource for their technological challenges.
According to the survey, 75 percent of respondents cited a need for computer repair, and of those respondents 43 percent had a virus or malware issue and 40 percent had a hardware issue. Productivity suffered as a result, with 67 percent of small businesses unable to do their job due to computer issues at some point.
To resolve computer issues, 52 percent of small businesses turn to a third party IT professional and only 7 percent have a computer technician on-site. In response, Office Depot has set up a one-stop-shop for small businesses to help with technology challenges such as data services, wireless networking, and PC diagnosis and repair through their Tech Depot Services.
The company had also partnered with the Small Business Administration's National Small Business Week last month in Washington, D.C. Office Depot provided SMBs with supplies, coupons for support services, and expert solutions. Other providers at the event included Google, Microsoft and Iintuit.
"Thanks to the support and dedication to partners such as Office Depot, we are able to provide small businesses with tools, information and resources they need to start-up, succeed and create jobs," said Karen Mills, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
