How Do I Use the Eraser Tool to Edit an Image?

The Eraser tool allows you to make small or large adjustments to uploaded images, photos, artwork, logos, and signatures directly within the Product Editor.

Instead of creating and uploading a brand-new image, you can remove unwanted portions of an existing image and save the updated version back to your design.

When Should I Use the Eraser Tool?

The Eraser tool is useful when you need to:

  • Remove unwanted marks, text, or objects from an image
  • Clean up a scanned signature
  • Remove portions of artwork or logos
  • Refine image edges
  • Remove unwanted backgrounds or image elements
  • Make quick corrections without recreating the image file

How to Access the Eraser Tool

  1. Add or select an image in the Product Editor.
  2. Open the Edit Image panel.
  3. Click Eraser from the available image editing tools.

The Pixel Eraser workspace will open, allowing you to edit the image before saving it back to your design.

How the Eraser Tool Works

Within the Pixel Eraser, you can:

  • Erase portions of the image by brushing over them
  • Restore accidentally removed areas
  • Adjust the brush size for detailed or larger edits
  • View the original image while making adjustments
  • Reset the image and start over if needed

When you're satisfied with the changes, click Save Image to replace the original image in your design.

Erase vs. Restore

  • Erase Mode: Removes portions of the image and creates transparent areas.
  • Restore Mode: Paints the original pixels back into the image if you remove too much.

This makes it easy to experiment with edits without permanently losing portions of your image.

Helpful Tips

  • Use a smaller brush size for detailed work around signatures, logos, or fine artwork.
  • Use a larger brush size when removing large backgrounds or unwanted objects.
  • Zoom in on complex images for greater editing precision.
  • If you make a mistake, switch to Restore Mode instead of starting over.
  • If needed, use the Reset button to return the image to its original state.

Great for Signatures and Logos

The Eraser tool is especially helpful when working with uploaded signatures, logos, or scanned artwork. For example, you can remove unwanted background elements, stray marks, scan artifacts, or portions of an image that you do not want to appear on the finished product.

By using the Eraser tool, you can make quick adjustments directly within the editor and avoid the time required to recreate and re-upload a new image file.
