What special character commands can I use when personalizing my product?

Many customers include special characters when customizing our printed products. Below is a list of commonly used characters and how to type them on most keyboards.

Common Special Characters

Em Dash (—)
Windows: Alt + 0151
Mac: Shift + Option + -

En Dash (–)
Windows: Alt + 0150
Mac: Option + -

Bullet (•)
Windows: Alt + 0149
Mac: Option + 8

Trademark (™)
Windows: Alt + 0153
Mac: Option + 2

Registered Trademark (®)
Windows: Alt + 0174
Mac: Option + R

Copyright (©)
Windows: Alt + 0169
Mac: Option + G

Degree Symbol (°)
Windows: Alt + 0176
Mac: Shift + Option + 8

Accent Marks (é, á, ü, ñ, etc.)
Windows: Hold Alt and type the numeric code (varies by letter)
Mac: Hold the letter key to display accent options, then select the one you need

If a character doesn’t appear correctly

Some fonts do not support every special character. If a symbol looks incorrect or does not display in the editor, you can try the following:

  • Switch to a different font
  • Add a note in Special Order Instructions requesting our team to insert the character for you
  • Contact Customer Service for assistance
